My most recent project from printmaking class. I took a few shots show the woodcut process and the finished print. I’ve had a creature theme throughout the class and for this one I decided to focus on trolls. I was feeling inspired after watching Trollhunter again. Plus I ended up finishing this print on May 17th, which is a big national holiday in Norway. It seemed a fitting way to celebrate my Norwegian heritage.

At first I was going with more of a portrait feel (first photo) but after talking with my prof, I decided to go different direction. I might go back and build on that troll portrait later though. I ended up wanting to explore the idea of stories and myths shaping the land and country. I enjoyed the woodcut process and it’s really something I’d like to do again.

I am the very model of a Scientist Salarian. *cough* Anyways I’ve been wanting to do some sort of mass effect vector illustration, this is the start. Well really this is just trying to get a feel for salarians. Probably will do something similar with turians and krogans. Hoping to do a full image in this style sometime this summer. Nag me about it!

In other news, finals are this week and I’m not completely dead! Kind of scary to think I only have one semester left. It has been rocky, but good semester. I actually have a few things from my printmaking class that I’ll be uploading here soon. Gonna be posting here much more regularly this summer.

when someone asks you why you’re so stressed about capstone

pluproblems:

Hahaha so true, capstone took over my life this semester. The senior BFA show opens next Wednesday so I’ll pretty much be finished with capstone!! Maybe I can return to some semblance of regular updates on here.

Here’s something random. I’ve just been calling him Commander Bird for lack of a better name. Got something better? Let me know!
I just wanted to experiment and I ended up with this bizaarre creature. It was fun to draw almost in reverse, creating detail by erasing. It was really fun and a break from the normal. I’m not sure why he has a vest and cape, it just progressed that way. I thought about adding color, but it looked great without and kept it punchy. Thoughts?

Programs and DVD labels for PLU’s MediaLab newest documentary, Overexposed: The Cost of Compassion. It premiered in Seattle on October 8, 2011 and a second premiere is planned for Feb. 22, 2012 on PLU’s campus.
I did the DVD labels myself, and the program was a collaboration between myself and another MediaLab designer, Sam Hosman.
Although I might be just a bit biased, this is a great documentary! If you would like more information about it, or would like to buy a copy please contact ml@plu.edu

Letterpress postcards, a final project for Graphic Design 3 back in May. A run of 200 (100 of each design). Thought I already had posted this but I guess not, so no time like the present!
We got to create our own final project, so I made these postcard loosely inspired by the national parks posters from the 1930s. I focused on landmarks in my hometown Vancouver, WA.

I know I’m late to the party but I beat Portal 2 Sunday! I had put off buying it when it first came out cause I was so busy. I finally got around to playing it, even though I still just as busy, if not more so. Should have just bought it at the get go!
Anyways I seem to be on a bit of a portal high right now, and I had this nice little hour break between classes yesterday! So anyways just a simple little turret. Hoping to do more portal art in the future!

I’m alive! Senior year has started off with lots to do and the pile isn’t shrinking! Anyways I’ve been doing quite a bit of design stuff at work in Pacific Lutheran University’s Academic Internship Office. I’m helping prepare for this semester’s Job & Internship fair. Technically my job is the student web designer, but every once in a while I jump in and help with promotion stuff. It’s a great on-campus job.

The top poster was a collaborative effort, when the it was passed over to me, the track theme and “job & internship fair” logo were already created. It was up to me put together those pieces and create the overall look.

The ad below is a pretty simple black & white at for a flyer that is distributed around campus each weekday. It’s far from fancy, but it was good practice in whipping out something in a short amount of time.

Anyways I’ve got a few more projects that I’m going to try and post in the next week or so here. I’m going to try to be more consistent with posting!

Whoops. Teacher busted lip-synching the “Bed Intruder Song.” (For the record, still trying to figure out if Antoine Dodson is the “accidental” everyman we’re after in conversational news practices.)

This brings back good memories from COMA 387 last year! lol

I need a beak from sketchup. These last couple of weeks I have spend quite a bit of time modeling. I took classes in autoCADD and SketchUp to boost my credits, and while I learned a lot they got annoying toward the end of the quarter. I’m hoping these will count towards my 3D art component for my major. Basically I took engineering classes for art credit! So here are some of my results from my projects.
